March '09

Time for our March meeting with everyone present & accounted for. Show & tell included:-

Bobbin lace from Jenny. The full leaf can bee seen here.

There was also this experiment with eyelets and colour with drawn thread work on a counted thread band sampler.

Libby was working on "April Showers" ready for an exhibition. Just a snippet can be seen above.

Sheila had been playing with wet liquid amber leaves on calico.

There was also experiments with shot fabric into a mini fabric quilt:-

and experiments with Markel Paintsticks:-

Robyn had begun on her new beaded rock,

as well as played with needle lace samples,

ready to work her own original design above.

Donna had been making more postcards because they are such an easy format for experimenting.

Our exercise for the day was in design. Called "Imaginative Projection", it came from a book "Design Synetics - Stimulating Creative Design" by Nicholas Roukes. We were given copies of road maps and then had to look for some kind of design in the lines of the roads, and trace them with texta. We found flowers, animals, faces, bodies etc. Here is Wendy's "Hefilant".

A good day was had by all.

October '08

It was the October meeting of our group recently with all of us attending. It was the day that all our pieces were due in for our combined project. OK, so what is this project you all ask? Well, all will be revealed in due time, just not today. But to give you a hint of what is to come, check out the pics below.

June 08

Our June meeting for our group produced only 4 members for the day, but even so, show & tell proved interesting.

Robyn had been working on some creative Reticella.

Cathy had been to Fibre Forum at Orange in the Central West of NSW, playing with a new product "Aquatics Bond", also known as "Aqua Magic", which is a sticky backed water soluble fabric. A sandwhich of AB, threads, & small pieces of fabric and another WSF was then FM embroidered, had stitched & embellished to procuce these pieces.

Libby is in the process of creating a series of works to illustrate man's relationship with plants. So here are some snippits of the first piece.

I have been slowly working on my major piece & will show pics when it is totally finished, sometime in the future.
